Succulents are plants with thick leaves and stems which can store a large amount of water. Therefore, they make perfect plants in the dry, arid regions of the country.

Although I’ve seen the plant here and there, I never knew its name, and simply forgot about them. Then, I began seeing it in bridal print magazines and blogs a couple of years ago and since then, succulents have never left my mind.

There is something beautiful about the plant’s heartiness and the tightness of its leaves. They’re amazing visually alone in pots. You can make stunning succulents bouquets by combining them with fragile floral like a tuberose. Small potted succulents make ideal wedding favors for they are relatively inexpensive, easy to transport and can exist in any part of the country.

Succulent plants make wonderful table centerpieces as well! Display them in clay pots or galvanized tubs or elegant wide gilded vases for a stunning presentation!

Here we’ve wrapped delicious Anjou pears with clear gift wrapping. Cinched the top with personalized ribbons that reads the couple’s names and the phrase “A Perfect Pear”

There’s so much you can do with a “Perfect pear” or “perfect pair” weddings theme! A pair of chopsticks as favors or a pair of lovebirds printed on personalized stickers or sculpted into an adorable wedding cake topper.

Give away burlap bags full of aromatic coffee beans! They smell sooo good! They’re easy to assemble: fill a plastic baggie with your favorite whole coffee beans, place inside a burlap bag, and pull the bag’s drawstrings to secure. Wrap a wide ribbon around the belly of the jute bags. Affix a personalized label printed with your names and date and the clever phrase “Love is Brewing”. Voila! Super simple and such wonderful edible wedding favors!

Crystal-clear jars, containers and vessels - filled to the brim of your favorite candy - each of a varied height make up a kickin’ wedding candy buffet. Fill glass jars with candy that matches your wedding color palette - talk about detailed! Adorn the table with a beautiful tablecloth, hang a beautiful garland or fabric dropcloth as your background. Hang paper lanterns above at different heights for dimension.

A nice addition to the wedding candy bar is a pretzel buffet. Fill old apothecary glass jars with gourmet pretzels in varying kinds: sticks, traditional, rods, balls, etc. Another yummy addition is the scrumptious gourmet popcorn buffet. Popcorn comes in so many different flavors nowadays from traditional buttered to chocolate-covered to chipotle-flavored… and more!

At the head of the table, have empty favor boxes, clear celloohane bag or colored paper bags (again, in your color palette!) for your guests to fill with their heart’s desire! Display clever signs or labels (decorative cardstock, chalkboards, or stickers) denoting the type of candy the guest is about to devour.

A candy buffet would be a welcome surprise and a memorable feature at your wedding!

I know, I know… old news… but for those of you who have NOT heard, the famed jeweler that is Tiffany has come up with a “gem” of an app for iPhone users. With their new, clever app you can browse through their collection of exquisite rings that are to scale. And you can view these sparkling beauties from multiple angles and with zoom functionality!

But the best thing about it is their novel Ring Sizer — just place a ring on top of the iPhone screen and adjust the circle sizes to to find out the ring’s approximate circumference. Sweet!

Craft Rooms

My to-do list of home improvement projects is a mile long. One of the items that I hope will come to fruition one day is my craft room. If I could just carbon-copy Martha Stewart’s craft room into my 2nd floor spare room, I would be the happiest girl in the world!

Wooden dowels to hang my decorative wrapping paper and ribbon. Generously-sized wood tables on which I could execute the myriad of projects my craft room would inspire. Glass jars filled with tacks, grommets, snaps, eyelets, and brads in all rich colors. Drawers filled with an impressive collection of rubber stamps, inks and stencils. Slots filled with decorative cardstock and stationery waiting to be cut, drawn on or folded. There would be no limit to my scrapbooking projects!

How refreshing is this color palette? I think summer - I think nautical - I think fresh - I think “awesome!” Envisioning the BM dresses all navy blue with grapefruit-hued floral bouquets. Stunning! Such a crisp color combination for a wedding! What do you think?

Dress it up with a Paper Belly Band

What’s a paper belly band? Traditionally, it’s a strip of paper used to decoratively wrap an invitation. You’ll commonly find it used on higher-priced or couture wedding invites. They are non-adhesive so they sometimes go by the name of paper collars, paper wraps or paper belts. Well, whatever the name, I am fascinated with them. I posted about them in the past and here I go again!

I see them being used beyond stationery. You can quite easily use these suckers to jazz up cd cases, favor boxes or thick paper party bags. On solid paper bands, you can handcalligraph your guest’s name and table assignment so that it serves the all-important purpose of a place card. Further accent them with satin ribbon or stickers for a stellar look!

Beautiful. Stunning. Gorgeous. This is the talented work of Sarah Bell and Allyson Meredith (Bobbitt) based in Canada.

I LOVE macarons and with all their rich colors and, equally-tasting flavors, they make perfect wedding favors. But, wow, Macaron Towers?!?! I need to come up with an event to warrant these beauties!

So, I found an old article that I ripped out of my BRIDES Sep/Oct 2008 issue. Danny Seo, expert on eco-lifestlyes, suggested creating novel wine glass charms by cutting out circles from paint chips in your wedding colors! How cool is that! Then, use ring binders as attachments.
