Chocolate + Pretty Flowers = Yum! OK - I have never eaten a flower before. The opportunity has never presented itself. But looking at this picture, it makes me want to go to SweetFields.com and purchase some!
They specialize in candied, freezer-safe flowers that can be used to decorate frozen cakes and salads. Their latest treat features the above violets hand-dipped in Swiss chocolate.
Just flipping through the lastest issue of InStyle Weddings Fall 2008 and stopped on page 184 to admire this beautiful idea!
Mini carnations fashioned into mini spheres or pomanders. They are then encased within mini lucite clear boxes. The guest’s name and table number is indicated on a simple label on the bottom right of the box. You can pin them in your hair or wear as a boutonniere.
Say what you will about carnations. They are a trend I am witnessing and with the current state of the economy, they’re looking darn good as an alternate choice of flower for the bridesmaid’s bouquet or even the bride’s bouquet. When bundled together, they really look amazing!
Jordan almond? Meet your replacement. The classic M&M. You can now easily match the color of your M&M’s to your own wedding color palette! I was at my local Party City (LOVE that store) and found shelves full of bags of M&M’s in a variety of colors. Trendy colors like Aqua and Teal and classic wedding colors such as White and Pink are available in 7 oz bags!
For awhile now, the folks at M&M’s allow you to create personalized wedding favors by printing your own words on the candy. Just recently, they added the ability for you to print your favorite photo on them. How cool is that!? Personalized wedding favors that are tasty and guaranteed not to collect dust in someone’s curio!
M&M’s make wonderful wedding favors and/or great addition to your colorful and grand wedding candy buffet (see Amy Atlas below!). M&M wedding favors are tastier (IMHO) - and there is less probability that you’ll crack a tooth when you bite into it!
She’s a New York-based party planner who specializes in drop-dead gorgeous dessert tables. They are so beautifully-designed that you simply don’t want to eat a thing! Her tables are pure eye candy! Her designs are exquisite and captivating! She has an impressive portfolio; thus, this will NOT be my last post about her. My inaugural post introduces you to this gorgeous all-white bridal shower brunch she designed.
The dessert table consisted of delicious torrone nougat, coconut macaroons, and dusted truffles. Gorgeous white hydrangeas with green-edges (my favorite flower!) provided a dramatic backdrop.
Crystal clear glasses were filled to the rim with White lemonade. Straws with the phrase “Best Wishes” calligraphed on its labels added a finishing touch. Adorable eyelet boxes with scalloped edges provide unique packaging and were pre-filled with jordan almonds. Interestingly enough, these same eyelet boxes proved the perfect vessels for the hydrangeas in the background!
Sarah, blogger of Classic Bride and soon-to-be bride, posted this fab idea that she’ll be including in her guests’ out of town gift bags. Rolls of pennies that the guests can use at the penny slots post-wedding!
Each roll is wrapped in the traditional white and red coin wrapper. Red and white twine (we sell similar twine called Baker’s Twine and it comes in other colors) is threaded through a scalloped-edge hang tag on which she has handwritten a clever note to her guest. So cute!
Comedian and daytime talk show host, Ellen Degeneres, recently married longtime love, Portia de Rossi at their home in California. I’ve been a huge fan of Ellen and her comedy for such a long time. And I think Portia was hilarious in the now defunct but critically-acclaimed show “Arrested Development”. Their wedding video is so sweet and I wish them so much love and happiness that wedded BLISS brings!
Hey all! I was able to snag a ticket to be in the audience for the taping of Martha’s special “blogging show” on Sept 17th! Whoohoo! This will be the 2nd time I will be in the audience. Not looking forward to the 8:30am call time! Ugh! Hopefully, I’ll run into several of the NYC bloggers in the audience!
I stumbled upon this new company called NameYourDesign.com and they sell stylish canvas wall art that you can personalize with your names! They’re available in several modern designs and colors. They would make a nice wedding gift or accent in your child’s bedroom (they have the most adorable designs for both boys and girls). And right now, they offer complimentary ground shipping within the USA!
Below is a picture of my cousin’s wedding cake. Yes, it was a 4 foot tall cake made to resemble a stack of decorative pillows! It was drop-dead gorgeous! They look real, no?! The baker was such an artist and obviously paid alot of attention to the design and construction of this cake.
Have you ever eaten a Whoopie Pie? Have you HEARD of a Whoopie Pie? If you grew up in the Northeast, specifically the New England states, chances are your mouth has enjoyed the sugar-filled goodness (or badness) that is the Whoopie Pie.
Traditionally formed of white, fluffy cream filling sandwiched between a pair of chocolate cakes, the Whoopie Pie now comes in a variety of irresistable and inventive filling flavors and cakes. They make great wedding favors for those getting married in the Northeast who want to introduce a unique treat to their out-of-town guests. A treat that harks back to the bridal couple’s childhood memories of dog day summers and a Whoopie Pie snack. Life couldn’t get better.
